On 29 July 2013, a new Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Security Sector Program (ISSP) and CGCC.
Building on over five years of close cooperation in East Africa, CGCC and ISSP have agreed to strengthen their partnership on programs of shared interest on security and counterterrorism related matters through the coordination of meeting schedules, analysis and research outputs and strategy development; the institutionalization of an IGAD-wide network of professionals engaged in counterterrorism activities; and the design of an annual flagship event or convention.
The Executive Secretary of IGAD Ambassador Mahboub M. Maalim, Head of ISSP Commander Abebe Muluneh and Director of CGCC Mr. Alistair Millar all signed the agreement.
The new MoU will enable both parties to jointly develop counterterrorism activities that are further tailored to regional needs and interests. CGCC’s Africa team welcome the opportunity for continued and deepened cooperation with ISSP going forward.
