As part of its partnership with The Commonwealth, the Global Center presented a four-day advanced training for selected senior prison staff in Port of Spain in cooperation with the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service. This was the second in a series of training workshops to establish a shared understanding among 34 senior corrections officers of international recommendations on preventing and countering violent extremism in prisons. The advanced workshop had the objective of supporting senior correctional officers to develop policy goals and corresponding roles and responsibilities, to reinforce strategic responses to the challenge of violent extremism in corrections. The workshop also enabled participants to identify good practices and lessons learned in the design of domestic national awareness raising training, to inform the development of similar national sensitization programs in Trinidad and Tobago.
