In cooperation with the governments of the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, and the United States of America, the Global Center organized the ASEAN Workshop Series on Aviation Security focused on preventing foreign terrorist fighters' (FTF) travel. This two-workshop series examined topics of watchlisting, insider threat risks, and cargo security best practices. The first workshop on 9-10 November introduced and detailed watchlist mechanisms to thwart FTFs travel. Using the mandate of UN Security Council Resolution 2396 and the recent Global Counterterrorism Forum Watchlist Toolkit, the interactive meeting outlined the means to develop and maintain an effective watchlist. On 17-18 November, the second workshop approached two different topics on aviation security covered over each day. Day 1 looked at the insider threat issue in aviation security and how airports can develop a culture of #aviationsafety to mitigate risks. While Day 2 discussed international standards for air cargo security and detection measures for screening goods and packages.
