As part of its partnership with The Commonwealth, the Global Center implemented a three-day online training workshop for officials of the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service. The third in a series of workshops, it was organized via a virtual platform and focused on good practices in developing national strategies to prevent and countering violent extremism in prisons. The workshop was informed by international standards and recommendations in preparing, developing and implementing national strategies to prevent and counter violent extremism in prisons. The workshop included modules on how to identify a strategy vision; practical steps to identify, formalize and prioritise strategic objectives; and ways of establishing a coherent and integrated roadmap for organizational change based on measurable outcomes and activities to achieve these in prisons. The workshop was designed to empower members of a Strategy Committee composed of local prison officials to prepare, develop and implement their own national strategy.
