Global Center Executive Director, Alistair Millar, and colleagues from the UN briefed the Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee on a joint process for “Judges, Prosecutors and Police Officers in South Asia on Effectively Countering Terrorism.” Since 2009, the UN Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) has been leading a process aimed at improving counterterrorism cooperation and capacity in South Asia. The Global Center, with support from Denmark, Australia, the United States, and other governments, has been working with CTED to implement this process, bringing together criminal justice officials from each South Asian country every six months to develop strategies and share experiences, lessons learned, and best practices in handling cases relating to international crimes and terrorism.
