The Global Center, the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), and Baker McKenzie, LLP co-hosted a roundtable discussion to promote cooperation among criminal justice practitioners of South Asia in countering terrorism. The event, held at the offices of Baker McKenzie, featured the Honorable Justice Mr. Azmat Saeed of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and U.S. Federal Court Judges Mr. John Tunheim and Mr. David Carter who shared their views on the challenges and opportunities facing the region and the importance of asserting the primacy of a civilian criminal justice system while countering terrorism.

The event showcased select outcomes of nearly ten years of programming conducted by the Global Center and CTED in the region, including the development of a South Asia regional toolkit to support the effective adjudication of terrorism cases. The regional toolkit seeks to support the development of national bench books for judges and was developed with the input of judges from South Asia and pro bono support from Baker McKenzie and Salesforce.
