As part of its Countering Violent Extremism in Prisons (CVE-P) Program, the Global Center facilitated a study visit for the Moroccan prison service (known by the acronym DGAPR) to the United Kingdom. The study visit included a group of eleven officials of the Moroccan prison service and its National Training Academy, to participate in a series of bilateral meetings with both government and civil society stakeholders in the UK. The study visit enabled participants to compare and contrast correctional policies, to identify and exchange prison management good practices (regime, security, assessment, intervention, and reintegration), and exchange lessons learned in the implementation of staff training and other continuous professional development programs on the subject of preventing and countering violent extremism in prisons. The foreign study visit also aimed to strengthen existing bilateral relationships between the prison services of Morocco and the United Kingdom.
